1940's University of Pennsylvania Star George Savitsky Game Worn Rawlings Football Helmet.  Savitsky played for Penn from 1944 to 1947, before playing on the 1949 World Champion Philadelphia Eagles.  Savitsky is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.  This helmet is a Rawlings VM1 Model helmet, in Penn's blue and red color scheme.  I have found many images of Penn players wearing this model helmet, one of which is shown above.  The helmet comes with an autographed image of Savitsky, as well as a note from its original owner detailing the history of how the helmet was obtained (its owner was given the helmet by his grandmother's good friend who was a friend of George Savitsky).  A fantastic early Ivy League game worn helmet from a very well known player.

Amazing Circa 1910 Beehive Style Rain Cap Football Head Harness.  This great looking football helmet features many ventilation holes, and has a great reddish brown patina.  This is a very well made helmet that has all of its original padding in its interior.  The helmet has had the name Burris Demarr and initials BD professionally embossed into the helmet.  The helmet is in great condition, and displays beautifully.   This helmet came from the estate of a player who played for a Washington DC Navy Yard football team at around the 1910 time period.   SOLD

Very Rare Princeton Style Brown Leather Football Head Harness.  Football helmets in this Princeton style are very scarce, and this one is a beauty.  The helmet has small neat inscriptions on the top including the year 1917 and 8 scores between Oklahoma area football teams: Smithville versus Muskogee, Tulsa, Independence, Clarence, etc.  The helmet includes its internal padding, which consists of a small circular wool pad with a circular patch of leather that would go over this pad.  These two pieces are not attached to the interior of the helmet, but it is a miracle that they have survived at all;  I have not seen a Princeton helmet with this padding present in the past.  Although no makers mark is discernable on the helmet, I have been informed by a Spalding historian that the stitching pattern of this helmet bears the unmistakable likeness of a Spalding.  The leather of the helmet is soft and supple, but does feature three areas of minor leather loss (possible burns?)  Overall this is a fantastic looking very rare type of early football helmet.

1920's Era Two Toned Red Grange Style Leather Football Helmet.  This helmet is composed of black leather, with two brown colored leather bands crossing the helmets top.  I cannot discern a makers mark, although it looks like one did at one point grace the forehead region.  This two toned leather helmet has a great look.

Spectacular Mid 1920's Spalding 2 Piece Executioner Style Football Helmet.  This executioner consists of a Spalding ZH model helmet and a Spalding No. NP model Noseguard.  The noseguard is made of an attractive black leather, and features a Patent Applied For mark as well a small circular makers mark that is difficult to make out, but I believe is a Spalding mark.  The noseguard is in very nice condition, although the leather strap that extends over the top of the head looks like it broke during its original use, and was replaced with an older shoelace which ties into the two straps that wrap around the face toward the back of the head.  The ZH helmet has a two toned look with brown mahogany toned leather, and dark black leather straps criss crossing the top.  The helmet features a strong Spalding mark on the forehead, and a faint Spalding mark on the interior crown portion.  The above catalog images were taken from a mid 1920's Spalding catalog, and show both the ZH helmet and NP noseguard on the same page; this combination could be purchased as one unit, called a ZHN, or as 2 separate pieces like this married pairing.  Executioner football helmets almost never come up for sale, and this is a fantastic looking two piece example.
Sold.

Exceedingly Scarce Spectacular Late 1920's Draper & Maynard Brand One Piece Executioner Style Leather Football Helmet.  This is only the second known D&M Executioner known to exist, and it is a killer looking helmet.  The helmet features a period chocolate brown paint job with white stripes atop, and a white painted number 39 on its reverse.  The helmet does not have any discernable D&M marks, but it is undoubtedly a Draper & Maynard example as it matches identically to catalog illustrations and to the other known example.  The helmet is in fantastic condition, with no cracking to the leather, and retains all of its original strapping and interior suspension.  The paint could most likely be removed if its new owner so wished, and I could recommend someone for this task, but I wanted to keep it in its original painted state.  This helmet was recently discovered in a Cambridge, Massachusetts estate, and is a fresh to the market executioner.  The back of the helmet just below the number 39 is stamped/embossed the mark 5096.  I do not know if this is a model number (doubtful since it doesn't coincide with a D&M model number) or a school/team code of some type.  The helmet retains its original chin strap, and the back of the helmet features elastic strapping at each side to allow for a flexible more custom fit.  This exceedingly rare Executioner helmet has a phenomenal look, and undoubtedly would be a cornerstone to any collection.
Sold

Early 20th Century Leather Flat Top Style Football Helmet.  This style of leather football helmet was used from about 1905 to 1925.  On two places in its interior, the helmets former owner inscribed their name W. Forsburg, as well as J.E. Techs, and the year 1924.  Underneath one of these inscriptions appears to be a round makers mark stamped on the interior.  It is a round mark, and likely either a Reach or Spalding mark., but it is difficult to discern.  This helmet does have some condition issues, including an area of leather loss along its back left side, and some brittle, broken areas of leather at the front center.  Also the right ear flap does have a significant tear to the leather.  Despite these flaws, this early flattop helmet still displays nicely, and is an affordable example of a flattop style helmet.

Very Rare Goldsmith Brand 8 Attachment Princeton Style Model PH Football Helmet.  Considered one of the rarest style of early football helmets, Princeton style helmets feature a helmet crown that attaches to the rest of the body of the helmet, by triangular sewn attachment points.  All Princeton helmets are very rare, but the more commonly seen style is the 4 attachment style, which was worn a little earlier.  As to rarity, you probably see 5 4-attachment style helmets to every one 8-attachment style, although you could wait several years to find even a 4 attachment offered for sale.  The 8 attachment helmets were worn during the 1920's through the early 1930's, and the above catalog image is from 1930 (at which time the PH model first appeared).  As the catalog states, the PH model was designed for warmer climate players, thus explaining its very scant padding as compared to other helmets of the period.  This scant padding also likely explains its current day scarcity, as it would provide little protection, and likely was not a popular seller.  This example retains its Goldsmith and model PH marking, and also has a stamped 13 at one ear flap, which likely denotes a player number.  The helmet features a nice mahogany toned leather, and has a great look.  A very nice example of  a very rare style of early football helmet.
Sold

Very Large Sized Circa 1930's Green and Gold Painted Leather Football Helmet.  This hulking helmet is massive sized, slipping on and off my adult mannequin head with ease.  This is a very well made helmet,  and although the high quality paint job has probably hidden the maker,  I would speculate that it is a Wilson brand based on others I've handled.  The helmet has a beautiful green and gold paint job, and the interior of the helmet looks in nearly unworn condition.  The helmet retains its original chin strap, and the helmet features 4 intersecting leather straps across its top.  A great looking monster sized 1930's helmet.
